    Achilles Tendonitis Treatment

Specialist treatment for Achilles tendon pain and injuries. Our evidence-based approach helps you recover fully and prevent recurrence.

    What is Achilles Tendonitis?

Achilles tendonitis (or tendinopathy) is an overuse injury of the Achilles tendon—the band of tissue that connects your calf muscles to your heel bone. It's particularly common in runners and middle-aged people who play sports occasionally.

The condition can be insertional (at the heel bone attachment) or non-insertional (in the mid-portion of the tendon). Both types cause pain, stiffness, and sometimes swelling along the tendon.

    Common Symptoms

    • Pain along the back of the heel or above it
    • Stiffness and tenderness in the morning
    • Pain that worsens with activity
    • Swelling that increases throughout the day
    • Thickening of the tendon
    • Bone spur at the heel (insertional type)

    Common Causes

    • Sudden increase in exercise intensity or duration
    • Tight calf muscles
    • Bone spurs at the heel
    • Running on hills or uneven surfaces
    • Worn-out or inappropriate footwear
    • Poor running mechanics
    • Age-related tendon degeneration

    Eccentric Loading Programme

Evidence-based rehabilitation exercises proven to stimulate tendon healing and remodelling.

    Shockwave Therapy (ESWT)

Highly effective for chronic Achilles tendinopathy that hasn't responded to other treatments.

    Custom Orthotics

Heel raises and orthotic devices to reduce tendon strain and correct biomechanical issues.

    Ultrasound-Guided Injection

High-volume injections or other advanced therapies for stubborn cases.
