What is Gait Analysis?
Gait analysis is the clinical study of how you walk and move. At Lower Limb Clinic, biomechanical gait analysis is a core part of every lower limb injury assessment, not an optional extra. Understanding how you move is essential to diagnosing the underlying cause of your pain, not just treating symptoms.
Using advanced pressure-plate technology combined with hands-on clinical testing, we assess your foot mechanics, joint alignment, muscle function, and movement patterns to build a complete picture of what's driving your condition. This allows us to create a targeted, evidence-based treatment plan unique to you.
Common Symptoms
- Recurring foot, ankle, or knee pain
- Pain that returns after rest or treatment
- Uneven shoe wear patterns
- Difficulty walking or running without discomfort
- Pain that worsens with activity or standing
- Lower limb injuries that keep coming back
Common Causes
- Overpronation or supination
- Leg length discrepancy
- Muscle weakness or imbalance
- Joint stiffness or hypermobility
- Poor footwear choices
- Post-injury compensatory movement patterns
- Structural foot deformities (flat feet, high arches)
Our Treatment Approach
Every lower limb injury assessment at Lower Limb Clinic includes a full biomechanical and gait analysis. We don't just look at where it hurts. We identify why it hurts by assessing your entire lower limb chain from the hip down.
Based on your assessment findings, we create a personalised management plan that may include custom 3D-printed orthotics, targeted rehabilitation exercises, shockwave therapy, injection therapy under ultrasound guidance, or a combination of treatments to get you back on your feet.

"Great experience here with Darren. He talked me through everything and explained it all really well. All very relaxed and comfortable and I left feeling much more confident about dealing with my injury. He emailed the exercises through before I'd even got home! Thanks so much"
